I’m back from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
As promised, it was a very intense 6 day workshop with 13 other teachers from across the US, wonderfully moving and at times tough to fathom but always engrossing and enlightening. I met some friends for life here- these educators and I share a bond that runs very deep. We each have our own missions to fulfill, with the Museum staff and each other for support.
I am a United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Teacher Fellow. It’s a responsibility not to be taken lightly.
Dear Matt,
I’m glad that your experience at the museum was moving and that you shared a bond with the other educators.
I spoke with Pete, and he was excited about continuing to work with you and the other Teacher Fellows throughout the year. He also said he was most impressed by the “intellectual curiosity” you all possessed, as well as your willingness to get out of your “comfort zone.”
Christina has been away, but I managed to also catch her briefly as well. She said it was really remarkable how you all came together and supported each other, despite your diverse backgrounds, and how dedicated you all are.
I actually attended the Wednesday afternoon session, when Mark Hanis and Nesse spoke. I have to say both of those speeches themselves were so inspiring, and I feel very lucky to have sat in with your group for that afternoon.
